The TravelYak Split Modular Kayak comes in three nesting parts which fit together in a bag. It’s a safe, sit-on design which assembles in under one minute.
For top performance, lightness and longevity, the TravelYak Split is produced in a choice of hand-laminated composites. It can be obtained at a local agent, or can be flown, shipped or delivered to you by hand, or, you can collect it yourself and fly home with your own TravelYak Split in a bag.
- When assembled it is 410cms (13½’) long. When disassembled and packed it is 145cms (4’ 9”) long and 59 cm (1’ 11”) wide, so suitable for recreational trips as well as extensive kayak tours and adventures.
- This is a sit-on craft with three nesting parts which reduce the volume to almost half (605 to 342 cm3) when packed, making it both very compact and portable as well super- quick to assemble and disassemble, unlike many other types of modular, or fold-up craft.
- Standard cantilevered locks are used to securely click the craft together, making it easy to replace wherever you are, should it ever be required.
- The craft comes with a large compartment up front and an indent with bungees for a large dry bag on the stern.
- It comes standard with a rudder system and adjustable pedals. It can also be fitted with a skeg, if preferred, for simplicity and lightness.
- The standard craft is suitable for persons up to 190cms (6ft 2 in) tall and approximately 100 kgs (220 lbs) in weight. A larger version of the craft is available by special request.
- The PaddleYak Split can be supplied in a variety of hand- laminated materials, from standard fibreglass (GRP) with polyester resin, to flax, carbon and epoxy ones, depending on your budget and requirements (toughness, stiffness, lightness, etc).
- A dedicated bag is available as an option.
