New Plett Kayak & Camino announced.

Real Cape Adventures cc (RCA) has announced launching its latest exciting kayak and hiking adventure in Plettenberg Bay, the jewel in the crown of the Garden Route in South Africa. RCA is a pioneering sea kayak company and has run and assisted setting up sea kayak operations in Southern Africa and beyond as far afield as Madagascar and Spain. It was the first to set up a commercial sea kayaking operation in Plettenberg Bay in the early 90’s. Its latest tour is set to provide keen hikers with an opportunity to also paddle (or keen paddlers to also hike) part of the route in Plettenberg Bay which has been carefully planned by Johan Loots, kayak designer, author and founder of RCA cc and PaddleYak Kayaks. “Plett” says Loots “has been a traditional seaside destination for generations of families, so it is primarily about the people, the ocean, the lagoon, marine life, nature and breathtaking scenery. It’s easy to do everything on offer here, yet not have experienced the real thing at all. The Plett Kayak & Camino is geared towards letting participants do what locals do so that at the end of it they will feel about the place the way they do”. The tour is done in style and comfort using convenient waterside lodges. A distance of about sixty kilometres is covered by foot and kayak over five days and six nights, making it manageable by most. Ages range from 16 up and numbers 8 to 16. Included in the Camino will be the Plett Beaches, the Plett and Bitou Lagoons, the Keurbooms Gorge, Keurbooms Village, the Coastal Forest heading towards the Tsitsikama, Natures Valley and the world-leading Robberg Peninsula Hike. It will provide kayaks and paddling gear, guides, instructions, meals, accommodation and transfers as well as extras such as wine-tasting and yoga. En route participants are likely to experience a wide selection of marine life ranging from whales and dolphins to seals and seahorses, as well as a variety of coastal birds in their natural habitat. The Plett Kayak & Camino will be run annually from the end of Jan to the end of July and October and November, with weekly departures.
